A photo booth can be a great way to provide simple entertainment for your guests.
Not only will a photo booth help to add some fun to your reception, it’s also a great way to create some great memories and end up with tons of candid -and silly- photos from your special day.
You can hire someone to set up a photo booth for you, or you can do it yourself with just a few simple props, a backdrop, and a camera. Here’s how you do it.
Design the Photo Booth
When it comes to designing your own photo booth, the sky’s the limit! Your photo booth can be as simple -or elaborate- as you want it to be. There’s no rule that says your photo booth even has to be a booth, you can make a booth with a simple backdrop. You just need something to provide a background on which to take photos. Fabric is usually the simplest solution, but you can go with curtains, ribbons, streamers, plastic tablecloths, or even painted cardboard.
Locate Props
Here’s where the real fun starts. Locating fun and festive props for your guests to pose with can be an exciting treasure hunt. Large picture frames can be sourced from thrift stores or attics, and hats, feather boas, costume jewellery, silly glasses, and bowties can be found in costume shops. Chalkboards are an especially fun prop; guests can have fun writing messages and holding them up in the photos.
Set it Up
Next, it’s time to find a place for your booth. It’s usually best to set the photo booth in a designated corner, away from the crowd, so that your guests won’t feel too self-conscious when trying on props and taking funny photos. Make sure you set up your booth in a well-lit area; if it’s too dark the photos won’t turn out. If it’s too dark, you could set up some lighting equipment, a strobe or even a couple of decent lamps or white holiday lights can help if you’re in a pinch.
Photo Sharing
One of the best things about a photo booth is all of the fun photos that you will enjoy looking through after your big day. If guests are taking photos with their phones, you’re going to need an easy way to get a copy of each of those awesome pictures. At Sharypic, we make photo sharing easy. Your guests can use their phones to take photos, then once they upload their pictures and tag them with your designated hashtag, our software will track the photos and display them in one place. With Sharypic, all your guests have to do is contribute photos via our iPhone app or by email. Or if they prefer, they can share the photos by tagging them on Twitter or Instagram. They can also share existing albums that are on Facebook, Flickr, or Picasa, Drive or Dropbox.
It’s that easy! To see how it works, visit our website.
If you have a printer, it’s even more fun. With Sharypic, photos can be edited and printed instantly, allowing guests to create instant souvenirs of your wedding. Sharypic is compatible with 4x6 post-card printers, which means that printing photo-sized prints with Sharypic is exceptionally easy.
That’s all there is to it! Making a photo booth is a simple and fun way for you to really involve your guests in your wedding, and is a great way to create candid and memorable photos that you will enjoy for years to come.
